BRETT WILKERSON, CEO

In 1978, 16-year-old Brett Wilkerson took his first job in a hotel, washing dishes at the Red Lion Jantzen Beach. By the time he was 30, he had worked his way through a succession of jobs with the Red Lion chain, finally managing the combined sales, marketing and catering for both the Jantzen Beach and Columbia River Red Lion hotels. He was responsible for $45 million in revenue and 30 managers.

In 1986 he joined North Pacific Management as General Manager of The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver. "I really care about people inside and outside of work. I wanted to see if a company could create a loyalty program based on a company culture that focused on customers. At The Heathman Lodge, we get to focus on customer service instead of red tape and forecasts."

In November 2000 North Pacific rewarded his efforts by appointing him in as vice president of hotel operations, including sales and marketing, facilities and rooms. In March 2006, he was promoted again, to Senior Vice President, and took on the responsibilities of managing the company's athletic clubs. In 2008 Brett became President and CEO of North Pacific Management, and a shareholder in the company.

"I like to build trust as we work with each other. I don't like an environment where there are repercussions for saying what you think."
